Private Autism Assessment
Assessment Process
The assessment
The assessment follows a clear, structured process, designed to ensure consistency, transparency and thoroughness at each stage.
Step 1
Initial telephone consultation
Step 2
Questionnaires & background information
Before the assessment sessions, you may be asked to complete some questionnaires and provide background information. If appropriate, questionnaires may also be sent to schools or other relevant institutions to gather their input. This information forms part of the overall assessment record.
Step 3
History interview
Usually online, 2-3 hours
In some cases, the person being assessed may also take part in this interview.
Step 4
In-person assessment session
Bath or other locations, 60-90 minutes
Attendance in person is required for this session. This allows for direct interaction, adding depth to the assessment and supporting a clearer understanding of how communication and interaction are experienced.
Step 5
Clinical integration
and multidisciplinary review
All information gathered across the process, including questionnaires, background information, the history interview and the in-person assessment, is considered together. Diagnostic conclusions are reached within a multidisciplinary framework, with independent review, confirmation and sign-off by an independent Consultant Psychiatrist where the full sign-off option is selected.
Step 6
Written diagnostic report
Reports are written in clear, accessible language and are consistent with recognised clinical standards and NICE guidance. Where independent Consultant Psychiatrist sign-off is included, reports are suitable for sharing with organisations such as the NHS, schools or local authorities, the DWP or workplaces.
Step 7
Follow-up appointment
